Things to Do Before You Get Your Engagement Photos Taken.
If you’re planning to have a picture-taking session for your engagement, this
short and helpful guide will give you some tips and pointers to consider.
Photo Style
When it comes to photo styles, the possibilities are endless! You can choose to
have formal wedding photos, casual ones, posed, outdoor, studio, even
photojournalistic! When choosing a photo style, use your partner’s and your
personalities as a guide to choosing a photo style. Discuss things with your
partner so you can choose a photo style that speaks for both of you.
Photo Types
It’s always good to have a few sample photos with you when you consult with your
wedding photographer, as they will give your photographer a better idea of what
you want your photos to look like. There are many websites that offer free
printable engagement photos. For extra inspiration, you can also talk to your
married friends and ask them if you could take a look at their engagement
photos.
Amateur Or Pro Photographer?
You would probably get better results if you hire a professional wedding
photographer, especially one with experience in taking engagement photos.
If price is a major consideration or if you simply want to save some money, you
can try asking a friend who knows a bit about photography to take your
engagement photos. If you choose to have a friend take your photos, avoid having
an indoor photo session as your friend may have difficulty setting the lighting.
You can have an outdoor photo session in a park or garden, preferably at sunset.
Avoid direct light. To make sure your photos come out great, you can take a few
test photos so you can see what the lighting and location looks like so you’ll
be prepared when the day of the actual photo session rolls around.
Wedding Photographers
If you plan on hiring a professional photographer to take your wedding pictures,
check their wedding photography packages. A lot of photographers offer wedding
photography packages that include an engagement photo session. Brent Deming and
his Chicago Photography Studio @

Relax!
For your engagement photos to look great, you need to be relaxed and confident
in front of the camera. Really good wedding photographers are skilled at making
your photo-taking jitters go away. Also, try and remind yourself that you don’t
need to worry over every detail of the photo session. It’s natural to want to
look great in the photos, but keep in mind that the primary thing you want your
photos to reflect is the love that you feel for your partner, and vice versa.
Don’t be nervous, and just enjoy the day. Don’t hesitate trying out your
photographer’s s tips and taking suggestions.
If you chose to have a friend take your pre-wedding photos, you’ll probably do
better with a casual, relaxed picture-taking session than with a formal, posed
session. Even if the first batch of pictures didn’t turn out so well, at least
you had fun with your friend and your partner. Besides, you can always have
another photo session!
Choosing Your Outfits
Technically, you and your partner are not yet married, but you have already
pledged your love and loyalty to each other. To reflect this, you may want to
try wearing coordinated outfits. It doesn’t matter whether you choose to wear
denim, or tan and whites, formal or casual, as long as the colors work together
and your outfits are wonderfully coordinated.
